NOLA Hotel recommendations...

When I went with my mom back in 2005 we stayed at the French Quarter Courtyard and their sister hotel next door(French Quarter Suites). I liked the FQC better, it just seemed like a typical french quarter hotel. We had a poolside room and the room had cool brick floors.
Edit:They are both on Rampart St. which is the northern boundary of the FQ, but within walking distance to everything. So you can get the convenience of the FQ, but still be able to get away from the craziness.
My mom and I stayed at the Hotel Provencial on our last visit, which overlooks Decatur St and the French Market (and is also supposedly haunted.)
Our next trip, we are finding a B&B in the Garden District
