First haircut for a girl

C could use a trim. My hubby wants to be there and he is taking PTO on Friday. We are leaving for KC after G's tumbling class. We would have time to go to Costcutters up the street. Will the Cost Cutters experience be sufficient for my little girl? I know she will only care about th sucker and she has seen h er brother get his haircut numerous times. I feel bad because we took G to a kiddy salon for his first cut (at 3 1/2mos). Frankly it was overpriced for what you get, which is why I am leaning towards Cost Cutters. Should I call ahead? I just feel conflicted. TIA

Re: First haircut for a girl

  • That is where we will be taking K for his first haircut.  Frankly, my mom put my hair in my baby book, wrote about the experience, and I really wouldn't care to have much more done about it.  It's not like I look back and say, wow, there is my plaque of hair.  Maybe take a pic or video of it, but you can go to the discount stores and get something to frame yourself if you want, but it seems silly to get a pricey haircut for someone who just needs a few snips of the scissors.  To me, it is just a haircut, the first of many, and it doesn't need to be all fancy.

    Just my 2 cents.

  • Sophia's first two haircuts we just did at home because she only needed the back trimmed.  For her first "real" haircut we went up to Carly as that's where I get my hair done.  She was happy to let me snap pictures and offered to save the hair if we needed to.

  • We took Nicholas to Great Clips and they had a first haircut certificate that they put in an envelope with a lock of hair. I would imagine Cost Cutters does the same. Works for me. :)
