If you were designing an 8.5x11 piece of paper with information about an event and you had to email someone about it, you would tell them:

FWIW, both are correct and interchangeable, I just want to see what most people prefer since I had an email go back and forth with group members using different versions, regardless of what had been used by the person before.

Definitely "flyer".  "Flier" isn't wrong, per se, but the rare times it's used in the U.S. it's usually in reference to a person who flies.
