Destroying Toliet Paper

As my title reads one of my cats keep destroying my toliet paper ad only in the bathroom downstairs.  I don't really understand why he does this.  He's done this 3 times in the past two weeks. He has tons of toys, scratching posts, and of course 3 other cats to play with.  Anything I can do other than hiding it from him?

Re: Destroying Toliet Paper

  • We try not to let any of it hang down after we use it. But honestly, you are probably going to have to hide it. B really only goes after it of some is hanging down where he can see it, but foster kittens usually go nuts for it and we have to hide it. TP is the best toy ever!

Same here. We've lost several rolls of TP and paper towel. Basically anything that will shred. Hide the TP, keep the door closed and it should at least minimize the shredding.

  • Ditto the other PPs. You will probably have to hide it. Cats seem to love playing with anything you dont want them playing with. Its a rule I think.
  • I do try to keep doors shut but DH feels bad they can't go in a room and opens them back up.  I go back and shut the doors at least at night.  The thing is the paper was not hanging off the roll I had it tucked up so that it wasn't something that looked like a toy.  I love my Scat to death but he drives me crazy sometimes.  He knocks all of DH's stuff off his nightstand in the morning about an hour before its time for food.  (we have a strict feeding schedule because of my one cats diabetes).  That toliet roll holder from IKEA looks like a great idea thanks.
  • One of our kitties can get an entire roll of TP on the floor in 30 seconds flat.  I just stopped putting the roll on it's holder and instead put it in the window sill next to the toilet.  She's 1.5 so I'm hoping she will outgrow it eventually.

    Hmm

I am sure they will not suffer from being shut out of the bathroom.

  • We shut our cats out of most of the rooms in our house. They dont destroy our stuff. We are all pretty happy!

  • We keep the doors to the bathroom shut. Both cats like to open cabinet doors/drawers, and I really don't want them in the cleaning supplies, trash, my make-up, etc.

Leo likes to hang out with me in the mornings when I get ready. I left to grab something out of the bedroom and came back to him methodically unrolling the TP. He managed to undo half the roll in less than a minute - with one paw.

    He's talented.

Love the TP holder from IKEA. Brilliant!

  • One of mine loves to unroll the whole damn thing.  The other one literally chews at the paper when its on the roll.

Not to mention the fosters that do one of those two things.  That Ikea thing has saved me so much $$ in T.P.  Even just putting it on the back of the toilet or something wasn't enough to save it before.
