Need movie recs

that are smart and quirky.  Perhaps some indies that are out there that are worthwhile?

Any suggestions?  They don't necessarily have to be indies.  Someone suggested Lars and the Real Girl so that's on the list.

Re: Need movie recs

  • some of these are a little older, but i enjoyed:

win/win, pirate radio, 50/50, cedar rapids

  • another vote for 50/50.  I also liked beginners, margin call, my week with marilyn, the artist
Lilypie First Birthday tickers Lilypie Third Birthday tickers Lilypie Kids Birthday tickers
  • Me and You and Everyone We know (it's older but very good), We recently watched The Greatest Movie Ever Sold and Cedar Rapids and liked them both a lot!

Nicolle's book recommendations, liked quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (read shelf)

  • I thought Leap Year was cute. Silly, but cute. Amy Adams is in it.
  • I agree with Pirate Radio and 50/50.  We also love Bottle Shock, Idiocracy (this one you either love or hate, but if you go in with little expectations it's great), Midnight in Paris, and Taking Woodstock.  The Rum Diary is another one we loved, but it's one that you either love or hate.  We like Johnny Depp and Hunter S. Thompson which really made us like that one.  It's not as wild as Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas since it's more booze fueled than drug fueled.
  • I'm guessing they don't have to be recent?  I like:

    Muriel's Wedding

    Strictly Ballroom

    TiMER

    The Zero Effect

    Memento

    Donnie Darko

Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • The first movie that came to mind was Brick.  It's like a 30s-ish detective noir film but set among high school students.  Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in it.

    I also liked Win Win.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • I have been rewatching some old favorites:

    Can't Buy Me Love

    License to drive

basically anything 80's and cheesy :)
