anyone use argan oil?

All of a sudden I am struck with the urge to get some. I've read it's good for clearing up skin and even getting rid of old acne scars. Anyone use it? Tips?

I did! Spent it last week :-) Did you get yours?

I've heard about Argan Oil a bunch of times and I've seen this one mentioned specifically: Josie Maran Argan Oil. Seems pricey but I'm guessing it would last forever.

  • I use moroccan oil, but i think it's similar, just a little cheaper.

When I run out (in like, 10 years, lol), i'll probably switch.  The stuff I have is a little waxy, and seems to weigh my hair down... and I think the argan will be lighter.

So you use it in your hair? I was thinking more of a facial moisturizer.

  • Yeah.  I wouldn't use what I have on my face... but i've heard of people using argan oil for all types of stuff.

Have you tried using olive oil on your face?  If you want to start there (instead of spending the money on something you might not end up liking.)  I found that my face was getting too greasy quickly.  My face usually starts off pretty dry in the morning and then gets progressively "moist" throughout the day - so the oil wasn't a good match for my face.  There is probably a period of your face getting used to it - but it was just way too much fo rme.

It also works as a nice hot oil treatment for your hair.

  • I do.  I also use jojoba oil.

I use them for a lot of things - cuticles, I mix with my nighttime facial moisturizer when I feel like I need a bit extra moisture, I use alone as a facial moisturizer on occasion, I use on the ends of my hair, I mix with body lotion (my skin gets super dry in the winter after shaving).  I use whichever I have on hand.  Jojoba seems a tiny bit heavier than argan IMO.  I don't use either religiously, everyday, but I'd say at least a few times a week.

ETA: I have the Josie Maran bottle of argan oil.  I've had it for probably 6 or 8 months, and not even 1/4 of it has been used.
