surgery it is...

I just got out of my appointment.

Bad news - he still recommends surgery. We scheduled for June 5

Good news - this dr. does this surgery all the time. I'm expected to be in the hospital for 2 days vs. close to 2 weeks with the other dr.

Also, this dr. is the orthopedic for all the Dallas area professional sports teams.

  •

given the circumstances it sounds like you are in good hands.

Sorry to hear you have to do surgery, but I hope it only leads to a better quality of life after and that you come back better than before after it's all done.

    **hugs***

  • Not the best news, but I am sure it will all work out and life will be much better after! This doctor sounds like he really knows what it is he is doing, which is always a good thing!

  • 2 days is much better than 2 weeks, that is for sure.
  • sorry to hear about surgery but it seems like you are in the best hands there.

  • What happens if you get a job between now and then?
  • I'm pretty sure this is the same dr. that did my BIL's shoulder surgery a few years ago... he's excellent!
  • Sorry you have to go with surgery but hopefully once its done you will feel much better.  Sounds like he's a great Dr.

So if you had to fly to Dallas for the Dr appt, will you have to fly there for the surgery and will you be comfortable to fly home?

Sorry to Post & Run.. I wasn't ignoring you, I just was posting from my phone earlier.

I really want to focus on my back right now. I'm going to take a break from looking for now.

What I realize is when I do have a job, I'm the only HR person for a large group of people and that makes it really hard for me to take time off, especially for a long period of time that I would need to take for recovery.

So right now, that I am unemployed, seems to be the best time to do it.

Flying would be way more comforatble than being ina car for the 9 hours that it takes to drive back to my place.

I'm not allowed to fly immediately. They say I can't fly for 7 days immediately after to avoid blood clots in my legs. But I'm staying here for 2 weeks because my first f/u appt is in 2 weeks from my surgery date.

After that I should be cleared to fly back home.
