Commuting to downtown Denver

Hi ladies!  I'm back again with more Denver questions.  We are trying to narrow down where we want to live-looking for a newer build homes where we will have to do minimal updating and work to - been there, done that with our current home.  The realtor is sending us listings in south Aurora and Thornton.  I've heard that Parker is nice too but I think would be a worse commute?   What is a realistic rush hour commute from these places to downtown (LoDo)?

Re: Commuting to downtown Denver

  • All of those locations can be a nightmare commute to downtown.  You could do light rail from Aurora/Parker if you're will to drive to a station.  Thornton isn't that bad but I-25 can be a bear at a peak times.  You might also want to consider Brighton/Commerce City.

  • If you're working in LoDo - I have no idea why you're looking to live in those neighborhoods.  they are all horrible commutes IMO.  I don't think there is a direct route from S Aurora to downtown I would estimate that at an hour.  Thornton might be better coming right down 25 - but you'll sit in the mousetrap and I'd still estimate 45 min on a good day.  sorry.

  • I'm in SE Aurora and I commute to Capitol Hill which is about another 5-10 minutes to Lodo. My general morning commute is about 40 minutes.
