I'm Crazy / COTD Related / Confession

I regularly feed the geese in the park this time of year because I hope that they will recognize me enough to let me be closer to their fuzz butted babies this Spring.

    This! They are so cute.

Feeding the ducks at a nearby lake is one of my favorite things to do in the spring and summer.

  • Those fukkers are MEAN!  There are a bunch of geese that hang out in the pond behind my office.  There are tables out back and we'll sit out there during lunch when it's nice, and those nasty things come right up to us pecking at our feet.  My coworker whacked one with her purse once.  Plus, they poop everywhere and they're even more nasty after the have their babies since they're super-protective.  Tread carefully, Ala.

    LOL!

  • As a small child, I had a goose charge me. I can't have nice thoughts about them now... but I agree, get pictures if possible, cause baby animals are cute! Good luck playing with the babies, just try not to be attacked.

  • LMAO - I know.. I grew up around them.

They don't scare me nearly as much as roosters though.

Roosters ARE brutal! My grandma still has scars from some she bought me as chicks and watched until they killed each other off or were eaten by coyotes.

My thoughts exactly! We had one make a nest in front of our office building last spring, and when they had their chicks, they would chase people down the sidewalk hissing. I am not sure why they decided such a high traffic area was a good choice.

Because humans took over all the suitable baby raising habitats?

FTR - I don't mind wild animals pooping.

Haha! The same thing happened at my bank, right next to the ATM. I started going to one at the grocery to avoid the scary geese.

Agreed. Though there is a nature preservation right next to our building (not near the walkway), roughly about a half acres worth, where a bunch of other birds habitated (but not right on top of each other). It was just one goose that decided to next directly in front of the building, where people walked everyday to go to lunch.
