I am taking baked goods to a family gathering. I know that my aunt is baking a cake already.

You can never have too many desserts.  And cake sucks!  Unless its made of ice cream...

I would do the same thing.  I don't see how that it would be rude, unless you weren't sharing and taunted people with them...

I don't think it's rude.  I actually think it's nice, even if the reason is because you don't like cake.  You can never have too much dessert!

I think it's rude to bring something when you know it has already been covered.

Like "Your food is disgusting to me, so I planned ahead."

But since we are hours away from home.. I'm not willing to just wait until I get home to eat like I normally do when I know I don't like the food/menu/cook.
