My Netflix queue is looking bleak - any suggestions?
I love:
Critically acclaimed films (generally!)
Documentaries
Interesting foreign films (subtitles are fine)
For example, I just saw Take Shelter and LOVED it (so I don't mind movies that are slow building). My husband and I just saw Hugo and we thought it was nice - a very charming, beautifully shot film. But, we didn't love it. Others movies we have seen recently and enjoyed: Beginners, Drive, the Ides of March, 50/50, and the Perfect Host.
I also love scary movies - the opposite of all of the above
Feel free to post a favorite movie, even if it doesn't fit above - I'm willing to branch out!
Re: NCR: Ideas for Netflix Queue?
When I had the DVD netflix (no longer & the streaming selection for adults stinks but right now I'm obsessed w/ season 1 of downton abbey...), I used to go through the oscar nominations for the last like 5-10 years and see if anything stood out to try.
Some favorite documentaries if you havent seen- the one about the guy who walked the tightrope b/w world trade center towers (??name), born into brothels, babies, murderball, walk to beautiful...will keep thinking.
have you seen the red violin? came to mind when you mentioned subtitles. very cool movie.
We just watched Babel last weekend. I really liked it.

I have seen the Red Violin - loved it! I've seen Born into Brothels, Babies, and Murderball, but not the others; I'll be adding them now! I'll look into Babel too.
BTW - I LOVE Downton Abbey! I watched the first season through Amazon to catch up to the middle of the second season...now anxiously awaiting season 3

Awesome - thanks so much! I loved Kinsey, Capote, and Little Children. I totally forgot that I have been meaning to see Maria Full of Grace - thanks for reminding me! I'm definitely adding many of these to my list
