I've never been a baker but have always wanted to be so my FI got me a KA Artisan stand mixer for Christmas. I've never used or even been around someone using a stand mixer before so please be kind!
I've used it for cookies a couple times and it seems fine but now I've made pizza dough and pretzel in dough in it and I'm not sure it's working right. When I'm making the dough, using any speed, the whole thing kind of moves and jumps around. Particularly the head (which is locked down). It also makes clicking noises. The movement twists the bowl onto the stand SO tight I've had to have FI remove it both times (where when making cookies this wasn't an issue). So what's the deal? Am I paranoid and this is normal or not? Thanks!
Re: Can I ask dumb KA stand mixer questions?
I would check the manual to see what speed you're supposed to use for bread.
I have a KA professional w/ a lift bowl and I know it says to only use speed 2 with the dough hook.
