How are you stopping rabbits from entering your yard?

Our dogs have been making some rabbit friends recently. We have a small area under the fence where we are going to put one of those small garden fences to keep rabbits out. However, we noticed a rabbit coming in under the gate, and it's not really realistic to put the small garden fence in front of a gate since there's no grass/dirt to set it in. H said he heard that coyote spray works? I have never heard of this before. Anyone use it? Or any other ideas on how we can stop rabbits from getting in under the gate? Thanks!

  • I let the dogs out. The rabbits here are freaking FAST and not anywhere near the door when I let them out so they always get away (except the one time I didn't see the rabbit.... bad things almost happen, but he was still speedy).

I don't think there's really a way to keep them out of your yard unfortunately. The rabbits now only stick by the fence and their escape route because of a certain little short hair who likes to chase them. That being said they do tease my two from the other side of the fence on occasion.

  • I guess I should have mentioned our main issue- our newest rescue is a poop eater. We've had to give both dogs meds and obviously pick up poop every day. Seems to be helping, but he is constantly eating rabbit poop to make up for the fact that he isn't eating dog poop! I was just concerned that rabbit poop is not safe if he continues to eat it almost daily. Maybe it isn't even a concern I should have? Not sure. Never had a dog eat rabbit poop so often!

  • Greyhounds are excellent rabbit deterrent. He almost got one last week, but it's rare that they come into our yard now.

They sell commercial deterrents at our nursery, and I've found that marigolds keep them away from our vegetable garden.

My rabbits eat my marigolds, but mine are weird.

I used to sell coyote urine @ a job, my customers swore by it...
