Anybody here do a spinning class? I have a question.

I just started spinning about two weeks ago and I go about three times a week. Well Ive noticed that Ill bleed a little afterwards. Is this normal? The first time my lady bits and butt were super sore cause the seat is not very comfy. My instructor said it would be a little sore and raw feeling but never mentioned possible bleeding so just checking to see if anyone else has had this happen. Thanks!

  • Define bleeding. Is it light spotting like your period, or are your lady bits rubbed so hard that they are raw and bleeding? If it's the latter, get a paid of padded bicycle shorts. Good shorts start at about $50. Then go commando with them; they are meant to be work without underwear.  You can also use chamois cream or Body Glide to prevent chafing. See my bio for shorts buying advice.

If you are wearing cotton underwear or cotton pants, stop right there! That alone can cause chafing. Cotton retains moisture. ANY underwear under clothes can cause friction and chafing. See above about getting proper shorts. If you already have wicking capris, wear those commando until you get proper cycling shorts.

Its a light spotting. And it only lasts for the day then its done. I dont have any chaffing issues...but Ill definitely look into those shorts. I do wear cotton undies which is a no no. Ill have to fix that! Thank you for the recommendation about the shorts.

  • I've been spinning for years.  Initial soreness is normal and common but I've never heard of or had bleeding.
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • I've been riding bikes for over 15 years, and I've never experienced anything like that. If you are concerned, I'd call your OBGYN tomorrow and speak to her nurse. If you aren't too worried, ask at your yearly appt.
  • I don't spin, but I occasionally will spot after a strenuous workout or run. Never had it until after my tubes were tied. My ob/gyn didn't seem concerned. Its not an every day thing for me.
