Anyone here? Want to help with homework?

I don't feel like concentrating on this and when I try, I can't seem to think of the right words to put on paper.

Here we go...

To ascertain the effect of wilderness survival training, a researcher measures a group of 14-year-old Boy Scouts and a group of 8-year-old Boy Scouts who have not yet had wilderness survival training. The boys are measured at the same time on proficiency in various skills. Discuss the weaknesses related to experimental validity.

Re: Anyone here? Want to help with homework?

  • I hope I understood the question right....

There are several factors in the weaknesses. The largest one being the difference in emotional levels of an 8 year old and in a 14 year old. A 14 would most likely have more common sense in wilderness survival and be able to make sounder judgement calls on both basic things (tent pitching) and in more advanced things (bad weather).

Typical 14 year olds also are more mental adept along with being more in control of their emotions. An 8 year old is more dependent on an adult whereas a 14 year old can be trusted to rely more on their own skills and experiences.

Another weakness is that an 8 year old would be more likely to try things themselves, even when it could pose a danger to their well being. A 14 year old is more likely to know their limitations and to ask for help when necessary.
