Keeping Activity Low

I am having a really hard time keeping our German Shepherd from running, jumping, etc. now that it has been a few days since surgery.  Any suggestions?  She is just going stir crazy and her toys don't seem to be enough now.  According to the vet I'm not even allowed to take her out on a walk., just out to do her business and that is it.  I'm running out of ways to entertain her without her being excessively active.

I just don't understand how anyone can expect for a 1 year old German Shepherd to maintain a reduced activity level for 2 weeks!!!

Re: Keeping Activity Low

  • Bones? Puzzle games? Short spurts of (repeat) obedience training? Games like hide & seek (where you hide & they try to find you)

I totally hear ya, we've been through 3 surgeries, & the 1st one was definitely the hardest to control the activity, at the time Cooper was 4 y/o & he's a GSP! They're excessively hyper till the day they die Lol!

Just remember, its harder on you then it is on them. They are fine. They really are. Its just one of those mind game things, they drive you crazy being stir crazy, but  they're really ok. (I hope you get what I mean....)

Of course, theres always that fear that in their bordem they will destroy things, specifically when you are gone. But thats why crate confinement is so important!

GL! 2 weeks will be over before you know it!
