Nutrition Pre and Post Workout

I am getting so many mixed messages about what to eat Pre and Post workouts. I know I should have some sort of Protein post weight lifting workouts but what about on days that I do cardio only? Should I stick with having a banana and string cheese like I always do ? My main goal is fat loss. I am not doing anything intense since I just started working out a month ago but it's still challenging since I am so new to fitness.

Thanks!

Re: Nutrition Pre and Post Workout

  • Unless you are training, working out very intensely for a long period of time or working out multiple times a day, I don't think you really need to fuel any extra than what you normally do.  I tend to work out in the afternoon or late morning so I usually eat a normal breakfast and either have lunch or one of my snacks afterward.  I usually eat a banana with some peanut butter or a greek yogurt and an apple, so your cheese stick and apple is fine for a snack.  I don't always eat back all my calories from working out either...I might have an extra snack (usually protein and complex carbs) if I'm really hungry.
