3G and wii fi question

If you have an ipad and are mostly in wireless places but have the 3G on your ipad, do the data charges count for the 3G or wifi limits?  For example, if I bring my ipad to work and use it to check my work email etc., I would use the wireless, however when I check personal email I would need to switch to 3G (because we are not allowed to check personal email on our work server-)  So, I would not want to waste my 3G data limits on work email.  Does the ipad allow to switch back and forth easily between wireless and 3G?

Re: 3G and wii fi question

  • If you have WiFi turned on and have previously connected to that WiFi network, it will 'remember' you and automatically connect to WiFi when it is in range. Anything you do while connected to WiFi won't count against your 3G data usage.  If you want to check your personal email, just turn off WiF in the Settings for a few minutes while you do so. When you are done checking your personal email, turn WiFi back on and you will be good.
