Using Kindle Fire soley as a tablet? Thoughts?
FI is in need of a form of internet at home. His laptop died and we still have mine, but we really don't have the need for 2 with the development of these handy dandy tablets 
Anyways...we are in the midst of planning our wedding or I'd go all out and get an iPad for his bday, but I know he'd be upset if I went out and spent a ton on his bday because I originally agreed not to...whoops!
The Fire has a price tag that I like, but the problem is that he won't utilize the Kindle part of it. Would it be feasible to purchase it just for the sake of internet (and the lower price than some of the other tablets)?

I'd suggest going to Best Buy or somewhere you can test them out. Kindle's browser isn't the best of all the tablets out there, but that also depends on how picky you are when it comes to that kind of functionality. I'm a pretty high power computer user, so it wouldn't work for me. But my mom loves her Kindle as she pretty much uses Facebook and email and not much else. So it depends a lot on what kind of user your FI is.
Also, there are a lot of tablets in a price range between the Fire and the iPad that will give you a better product.
