NSOR: Can I have some good luck job vibes?

There's a long back story to what happened at my last job that makes me nervous about working there again, but a former colleague sent me an internal job posting on Friday and, honestly, if there is a job on this planet that I am meant to have, it's this one. It's a position requesting my educational and experiential qualifications, doing women's rights work in DC, with an organization I've been involved with for 12 years, working under a fantastically intelligent and amazing woman who was a strong ally for me when I was there - and has been doing her best to help me find a job now that I'm not.

I just sent an email to her - out of respect -  asking her if she felt my skill set would be a good fit for the needs of the position, and now I'm playing the waiting game to hear from her. I'm going to be a nervous wreck waiting to hear from her...

  • This sounds like an amazing opportunity, I am rooting for you.
  • Ugh.

So I didn't receive a response to the email I sent to her personal account, but I did just receive an email from her, forwarding two open positions at another organization.

Just spoke with the colleague who forwarded me the job listing, as well, and apparently she was just talking to the supervisor about the position and she's apparently looking for someone with some super specific qualifications (that are listed in the position description).

I think I need to take the lack of response to my email, her forwarding other positions but not mentioning her position, and the info from my colleague as a "you just aren't a good fit for this position" message.

C'est la vie, I guess. I'm still a little bummed about it, though. Sad

ETA: JUST rec'd a response from her telling me what her #1 criteria for the position is (the criteria that interestingly enough isn't listed in the position description), but telling me she didn't want to discourage anyone from applying, so to feel free to put in an application. Um...yeah. Somehow I think that would probably be a huge waste of my time. But thanks anyway. :
