A California company called Sprinkles has put out a 24 hour ATM type machine that dispenses cupcakes. The machine is even pink, haha.

Kind of silly, but fun. Makes me wonder what other things could be considered necessities that could generate a profit. In Spain, they had beers in the vending machines in the dorm, which I thought was wonderful!
Any items that would you love to have at 24 access? Food or nonfood?
I know most guys would love one that dispenses condoms, sandwiches, and beef jerky.
Re: Cupcake ATMs
I agree with this. It's always hard to find something convinient and healthy!
I'm all about the cupcake ATM, except it's Sprinkles and their cupcakes are kind of dry... But I do know people that love them, and it's a way cute idea!
I agree with the healthy options though. I love crap junk food, but sometimes I'm not feeling it and it seems that's the only option in a vending machine.
We have an Art-o-Mat on campus-- it's so cool!

The story behind Art-o-mat?
The inspiration for Art-o-mat? came to artist Clark Whittington while observing a friend who had a Pavlovian reaction to the crinkle of cellophane. When Whittington's friend heard someone opening a snack, he had the uncontrollable urge to have one too.
The year was 1997, the town was Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Whittington was set to have a solo art show at a local cafe, Penny Universitie (which eventually became Mary's Of Course Cafe). This is when Whittington used a recently-banned cigarette machine to create the first Art-o=mat. In June 1997, it was installed, along with 12 of his paintings. The machine sold Whittington's black & white photographs for $1.00 each.
This art show was scheduled to be dismantled in July 1997. However, Cynthia Giles (owner of the Penny Universitie) loved the machine and asked that it stay permanently and machine remains unaltered in its original location to this day. At that point, it was clear that involvement of other artists was needed if the project was going to continue. Giles introduced Whittington to a handful of other local artists and Artists in Cellophane was formed.
Artists in Cellophane (A.I.C.), the sponsoring organization of Art*o*mat? is based on the concept of taking art and "repackaging" it to make it part of our daily lives. The mission of A.I.C. is to encourage art consumption by combining the worlds of art and commerce in an innovative form. A.I.C believes that art should be progressive, yet personal and approachable. What better way to do this, than with a heavy cold steel machine?
the art ATM is awesome!
I saw this on the news a few days ago and thought of BNOTB.
I've heard there are some vending machines in schools now that have healthier options like bags of carrots and apples. I like the idea, but I question how fresh they'd be.
GLW, that art-o-mat machine sounds neat.
Have you seen the new Coke machines?

I saw one in a BK about a month ago when I went to use the bathroom... they offer 100 types of soda! (I didn't know orange flavored Coke even existed!)
I think they tried to do that at my old HS. I think it's a good idea, especially for all the people who hang out after school for extracurriculars and whatnot, but I also am curious about freshness. It's a start, nonetheless.
I agree that it's difficult to find any sort of healthy option at random hours of the night. Heck, I find it difficult finding anything healthy when I go out to eat, actually.
... Now I want a cupcake.
