Vitamins?

I'm looking for suggestions...I eat a fairly healthy diet, although not as many f&v as I probably should.  I work out 3-4x/week.  I take a multi-vitamin daily.  And I'm TIRED!  I'd like to add more vitamins/supplements, but am unsure what to add and what will benefit me most.  What do you take, and why do you take them?

Thanks!

Re: Vitamins?

  • I take Vitamin B12 and D3 since I was severely deficient in both 2 years ago.

  • You might want to have bloodwork done.  You could be anemic, hypothyroid, etc.  I'd start there.

I take a vegetarian multi (extra B12), calcium, iron, and cranberry daily.

  • I would suggest you see your physican and have a full set of labs done to tell you if you have any deficiencies.  I take a multi at the suggestion of my PCP in addition to b12 (alternate with injections), iron and d3 as I am deficient in all of them.
  • I take an isotonic prenatal multivitamin (recommended by my ob-gyn - any woman of childbearing age should take a prenatal or separate supplemental folic acid) and fish oil supplement.

But i agree, you should have bloodwork completed to see if you are deficient in any area.

  • I struggle with being tired a lot.. but I know it has a lot to do with the season here in Seattle. The less refined carbs I eat makes a HUUUUGE difference too (newly discovered since I've kicked over to "Clean Eating" )

I take a woman's Multi, Fish Oil, and Glucosamine (bad knee and back).

Do you food log? You may be missing some stuff because of your diet like Zinc or Iron. Food logging will help you figure out what your lacking and that can help you pick out the proper multi for you.
