*edited to remove link*
someone I know is sending $. *stab stab stab*)
(PS, I will be deleting some of this because, uh, the potiental buyer will be googling. )
Right now we've been pointing out the fallacy of hybrid vigor, the BS that is having a gazillion types of pups for sale (when you follow the links here: http://muttpuppiesontrial.blogspot.com/2008/11/fuzzy-wuzzy-was-backyard-bred-muttpuppy.html)
And it's in Missouri.
Re: halp fast plz? point out why this person is a puppymiller
Holy hell, that site hurts my eyeballs.
Can't you just tell her that it isn't a legit breeder because the site sucks?
Oh, and they sell mixed breed designer dogs.
Gah. They call the puppies "babies".
There is nothing right about this breeder.
The fact that "Missouri has the TOUGHEST breeding laws in the US" is a load of horsepuckey.
Their health guarantee says it is a lifetime guarantee, but I guess none of their dogs live past 10, since that is when it runs out.
They REQUIRE that the dogs are fed a certain food.
No money is ever refunded - you can just get a replacement puppy.
I can keep going if necessary.
The name "Fuzzy Wuzzy Puppies" alone is a flag. That name makes me cringe.
I find it odd they provide info for hypoglycemia in pups - I'm not sure if this disease is normal for puppies - but it seems odd that they believe it is normal. If all their pups have this, then obviously there is something wrong with their breeding practices.
yeah, I haven't managed the 'mixed breed 'breeder' is BS' part yet. That's not a battle I will win
And this person is smart enough to know better but...it's delicate. And I'm kinda forbidden from starting family WWIII over this.
For the time being, I'm putting together an e-mailed list of useful concerns. And the Mr. will be sending it out tomorrow.
For today, the check has literally been taken out of the mailbox. for tonight. while it's researched
Is there a reason why they want this kind of puppy? Why not a shelter puppy?
Because wants a small, 'good with kids' dog and has decided *this* is what they want *RIGHT NOW*.
I'm not going to get this person to a shelter...I may be able to get her to a good breeder.
*grumble8
what everything boils down to right now is that this person wouldn't disagree that mills are bad. I just have to tactfully 'prove' this is a mill.
It bothers me a lot that this woman is claiming that another woman is slandering her.
How many litters do they have currently? How many breeding females do they have?
I'm in MO, but I'm sure that I wouldn't be allowed to see the breeding facility if I asked (maybe email her to ask her if you could come and visit the breeding facility?)
They aren't one of MO's dirty dozen, but that doesn't mean anything.
yeah, the entire thing is a mess.
I'm going to delete the link in the OP, just so this person doesn't find this if she's googling. (although the game this miller plays w/ websites makes that unlikely, I'd ratehr not start family battle over it)
The Mr. has all the links I could find and is working on it. He's convinced it's a mill. This person wouldnt' support a mill but WOULD support a BYB w/o much hesitation, the battle is convincing her it's a mill. or at least a BYB not worth supporting (FWIW, the Mr. and I both think it's a mill)
Someone hasn't read the FAQs on what makes a reputable breeder.
I did read it and she DOES meet all the recommended things by the article
It looks like she listed every puppy from her most recent litter on the site as available for sale, which means she did not line up homes for the puppies before breeding a litter. Red Flag #1.
No mention anywhere of show entries or wins, or genetic health testing done. Red Flag #2.
Ships her puppies. Red Flag #3.
No mention anywhere of application, or any kind of interview process before selling you a puppy. Potential Red Flag #4.
The price of her puppies. Red Flag #5.
Her site contains a link on "how to pick a shih tzu puppy" -- meaning she doesn't match you to a puppy. Red Flag #6.
Her "health guarantee" is ridiculous (void if you feed a food other than what she recommends??).
She has a waiting list but some people want certain colors and certain markings. She keeps many of the females and rarely sells them.
Two if you go through her directory she does have many show winnings, you just need to actually look.
There is a form you have to fill out. When you call/email her about purchasing she sends you a form to fill out, I should know, I had to fill one out myself.
As far as shipping, there aren't any shihtzu tau breeders in Florida so we HAVE to find a breeder who ships or no puppy, and I will NOT buy from a pet store(ie puppy mill).
Why would SHE match you to a puppy? That is dumb. I don't know ANY breeder that does that.
Here is the link to her application:
http://www.gloryridge.com/request.htm
There is much more to her guarantee:
http://www.gloryridge.com/gaurantee.htm
She states on the "Adults" page that she breeds pet-quality dogs, whose ancestors "are among champions."
She's a backyard breeder.
I'm done here.
