I got home from Europe from my work trip yesterday and Lily was hoarse from crying about being locked up. I feel SO GUILTY! MH let her out once while I was gone and she peed again. I couldn't bear to put her in again so I let her have freedom last night and she peed twice - one in each of the two spots she is using in the living room. One spot I had placed a litter box right where she pees, and she still peed next to it.
I don't know what to do! She is using the box 100% in the room she is in, and the pee balls are still big. So I'm still fairly sure this is behavioral. I just don't know what to do next. Ugh.
I think tonight at least I'll try locking her in my bedroom with a box. Then she can at least sleep with me and won't cry.
PS- on another note... I think Cooper grew to twice the size in the couple weeks that I've been traveling! Holy cow that is going to be a big cat I think!
Re: Lily meowed herself hoarse :o(
Poor Lily!! I really hope you guys can find a solution for her soon. That's just so frustrating!
(Lightbulb) Can you try putting foil all around the litter box she just peed next to? Give her a path leading up to it but cover the rest of the area in foil? Maybe then she'll use the box?!

I think she'd pee on the path. The box was in a tight spot already and she managed to pee next to it. Also, MH tried straight tinfoil while I was gone and that didn't seem to deter enough either. And then the kittens played with it. :-P
Maybe I just need to be patient and keep up with the confinement. Maybe she just needs time? We are using the Feliway spray now too so maybe that will help after some time? UGH!!!
Poor Lily - just so much stress for a little kitty -yeah?
They have kitty behaviorists, yes? We need to find you a cat whisperer!
We had confinement issues with Penny, too. She would meow until she was hoarse, throw herself at the door, and basically destroy the room she was in.
I wish I had tips or some advice, but clearly I have no idea what I'm doing since Penny is at the vet (again) to have x-rays done (again) before we try to figure out if there is anything we haven't tried yet.
Hang in there. Poor Lily. And poor you guys!
Snow!
