First Time Vegetable Gardener

Now that I'm living with my fiance I am going to plant a veggie garden this spring and I think I might have gone a little overboard. I've grown up planting and gardening with my mother but it's my first time alone. I do live on 2 acres so I have plenty of room. I got:

Red Sweet Corn, Orange Watermelon, Regular Watermelon, Cantalope, Snap Peas, Green Bush Beans, Cucumbers, Kohlrabi, Bell Pepper, Zucchini, Gourds, Pumpkins, Regular Tomatoes, Cherry Tomatoes and Carrots. I think that might be it but I can't remember for sure :) I would like to find some Indian Corn too.

Luckily I have a lot of family to share with :)

Any suggestions or tips for a sort of first timer?

Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
  • No eggplant ?  :)

I didnt like how my melons ended up tasting so we are skipping those this year.  They take up so much space too they crawl all over the yard!  The bees liked them

Three cucumber plants were way way too many for us to eat, its just my husband and myself.  I gave many to neighbors and I pickled but it was still cucumber chaos.

  • oh that sounds great! we are doing our first one this year also but we are just doing cucumbers and tomatoes. i don't have any tips, my neighbor is guiding us through, who grows them every yr. good luck!! it all sounds so yummy!
  • That is such a dream of mine! When I get my house I'm totally going to have a huge garden. You don't have basil or other herbs on your list. Basil and rosemary are really easy to grow (imo) and add great flavor to any dish. I wouldn't have a garden without them!
  • beachbum19 You have given right information about gardener. But i think One of the examples can be teak patio furniture that is artificial through specific materials and their appropriateness of weather condition of respective countries or regions. All People are in better position as all have a variety of options to choose from for outdoor furniture sets designed from dissimilar types of resources. We can decide any that fits our needs according to weather conditions we have. The only condition is such furniture set must remain able to resist exacting weather condition where used.
  • You must have a HUGE garden - those melons will take up a lot of space!
