We've had Turtle for a week, and I took her to the vet yesterday as we adopted her from a local shelter and I just wanted to get her checked by my doc. Also, the night before and during the day she had a runny tummy all over the bed in the room she's been sleeping in. I can see she has also used the kitty litter, but don't know why she keeps going on the bed??
I thought maybe if she is sleeping on the bed and doesn't make it to the litter, but she has quite a long coat and surely she would have messed herself? Hubby is away on business at the moment so I let her sleep with me last night - she got up a few times and I could hear her in the kitty litter, but this morning when I went into the room she usually is kept in I see she has messed on the mattress again ( I had stripped the bed yesterday and all the linen is in the laundry so it was right on the mattress. While I'm cleaning that up, I turn around and see her pee'ing on the towel that I've been putting her litter on??
The vet says she has some sort of virus or something but it's caused by stress and she's probably had it for a while (she is four months old and I don't know her history at all, being a rescue cat) . Now I'm not sure if she messed on the bed once and keeps going back because it's familiar, or if it's also just stress?
Help!! How do I stop it? I'm running out of linen and I'm doing a shocking job at saving the planet with my washing machine running throughout the day!
Re: Sick kitten - poor mattress... Any suggestions??
Did the vet check for a UTI?
Be sure to clean the spots with a cleaner like Nature's Miracle. Also try using kitten attract litter. Our foster kittens LOVE it.

Thanks for these suggestions Kaiene! I'm in South Africa so will have to see if those products are available here or if there is anything similar..
I use the silicon litter, which she does use...just not sure why she has moments where she goes on another mission.
I managed to get half a ml of medication into her mouth this morning - of course she gets sick while hubby is away and I'm home alone. Was virtually impossible to hold her so she couldn't scratch me, and try pry open her jaw to get the meds down her throat. She spat most of it out, and was foaming all over the show, so really not sure that any of it went down (vet told me to give her 1ml) but she hasn't messed anywhere since last night so hopefully the injection the doc gave is doing the job. Hubby back tomorrow night only - so have to try get the stuff down her throat again tonight and in the morning on my own again...Oh the joys!!
Do you have a bathroom you can keep her in at night until her stomach clears up? Or maybe you can buy a protective pad to put on the bed (like the kind you would use for a kid that is wetting the bed) so that the clean up is easier?
Also, what food are you feeding? Maybe a high quality food with mild ingredients (not too rich) would help to get the digestive track back in order.
