Match vs. OKC

Okay, so I'll be honest and say I had NO idea where some of you ladies were finding these crazies when you would post your dating lols. But then someone mentioned in the thread last night that people had profiles on both match and okc, and sometimes they were different, so I thought I'd head over to OKC and check it out.

And ALREADY I've started getting wacky messages. Like this one:

Wow...
You are a princess -
I think that perhaps, you are in fact, possibly, a wonderful girl ?
Of course, I could be way off here but compliments being what they are, are wonderful to get don't you think?
Especially when they come from the heart ~
Because of our distance, think of me as way out in left field but Ms. arborgold...Your photo makes me smile ...
And while I know that I may not be your color paint, may I pay you this compliment?
Truth be known, I think simply beautiful would be safe and appropriate here ~
Know any females in my area of the world that would like to be romanced?

Names Kevin

I'm totally blaming OKC for this. I get randoms on Match, but never like this.

Re: Match vs. OKC

  • Yeah the free sites generate many more creepsters.

I recently called one out on it, "Ugh, seriously dude?  You send me one of these cheesy novels every week." and he flipped out on me and said it must be some, "White chik thing".  I was like, no dude, it's just a "normal person thing"

  • Yea the free sites definitely have more crazies.  I have had zero luck around here though on the pay sites, I think it's just a demographic thing... I have found that most guys in their 30s on match (at least where I live) have never been married and have no kids and want to date someone without kids too.  The divorced guys with kid(s) tend to be on POF.  The truly odd seem to be on OKC.  And pretty much no one is on eHarmony.  In fact that was the biggest waste of money in my life.
  • And now I'm debating. Do I go ahead and disable, or do I leave this up for the lolz. Thoughts?

Can't hurt right?  The last two guys that I dated more than once I met on OKC.   Then again they both ended up being big ole losers

It can't hurt.  And the lolz are bound to be good.  I say keep it up.

This. I always say: The worst that can happen is you get a free meal on a date and have a funny story to tell SO and your friends. The best thing is that you could meet a great guy!

  • I've gotten about the same amount of lame messages from OKC and Match...no one completely crazy like some of the stories I hear here about 65 year olds from other states, etc. I am "very selectively reply" on OKC (and on Match) and love the block feature on OKC because they will never come up on my search/visa versa again.
I do think it's a demographic thing. There are a TON more people on OKC, but that will generally mean a TON more people I am NOT interested in. But also a chance there might be a few I could hit it off with?

That is so weird b/c I find that there aren't really that many people in my area on OKC at all... the most are on POF, followed by match.  There are definitely more on OKC than on eHarmony but that isn't saying much b/c I think there was literally one guy on eHarmony that I was interested in.

  • I met my current BF on OKC, so you never know! I've actually had more dates from there than I ever did from Match.
  • My favorite message from OKC so far?

    "you have magic hair"

    Really?  Really?

Please tell me that you asked what magic power your hair has!
