Dear Community,
Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

Thank you.

BUs - no longer post pics?
When we do the daily BU posts, maybe we should just post links to our blogs, not the pics. Would that solve the issue? TN would have to go to our blogs to see a pic and repin it.

Re: BUs - no longer post pics?
PIPs are not a requirement for the BU post! Feel free to add your link without a picture. :-)
I think if you posted without a photo, TN wouldn't bother pinning your stuff. So if TN is bugging you, then by all means, stop including a picture.
That's a good idea.
This would make me very sad - seeing all of that yummy food every day is awesome! But, it may be the only way to truly solve this problem. Despite the fact that I emailed them to request that they not pin my recipes, I do not trust them to adhere to that.
(oh, and I've been wanting to change Nest names for a while, considering my old name was from the Knot, and thought this would be a good time, considering all of this mess - siggie is still the same and I'm new enough that I thought it wouldn't matter anyway
I am going to continue to post pics, I am not upset about the nest pinning my photos and linking back to their site. I give them the right to do that when I post here.
So Tasty, So Yummy
how about posting the pic anyway but in your post, mention "Nest: do not pin this image"

So Tasty, So Yummy
we should add it to the glossary

I think the issue isn't the pictures as much as the screennames.
I'm all for the no pics, not that I've had that many blog posts lately anyway!

Technically you only gave them the right to use your photos on their properties, not on a third party website.
I am a little freaked out by the screen name thing, but I guess that's what happens when you're on a public board. Anyone can google a cooking question and our board may come up. I guess we should just be careful about what we post. Save the personal stuff for private messages ...
From the nest's perspective, they own any content that we freely share on their boards, and they want to make money from their stupid ads by getting more visits to their site. Sick, yes, but that's just the reality with the Internet right now.
What if we moved our BUs to our WC facebook page? But then again how trustworthy is FB's privacy policy? I'm guessing not very. Can't win either way. All we can do is just be smart about what we're putting out there in cyberspace.

The difference for me is that when I post something, personal or not personal, on the nest I am aware of the 'risk' and I know I am taking it. When the nest takes it upon themselves to specifically connect my screenname to another site where I am not in control of taking that known risk, then I have trouble with that.

I am not on FB =(
