What's Cooking?
Dear Community,
Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.
If you have questions about this, please email help@theknot.com.
Thank you.
Note: This only affects The Nest's community members and will not affect members on The Bump or The Knot.
Features you do want on the Nest
I thought it might be helpful to start a post telling the Nest the features we are actually looking for. Here is my list:
Working Search Function
PM that gives notification you have a PM instead of having to page someone to tell them they have a private message.
Like button for posts (just to be used on the nest, no connection with Facebook)
It would be nice to also have a Nest photography board instead of just a bump board.
Ability to post clickable links from a Mac (not sure if this is a Nest issue)
Re: Features you do want on the Nest
Does it not work if you do:
[url] linkhere [*/url]
(without the * of course)
I'm not talking about a clickable link on your profile page. I'm talking about pasting links from other boards. They are not clickable if you are on a Mac and use Safari.
I do like the way you insert pictures on the new nest. You can also add links on the new nest.
I hate that you have to hit return twice in order to get spaces between paragraphs in the new nest. I also hated how it was impossible to use single spacing in the old nest. It should be WYSIWYG in the post window, but it isn't.
I wish they wouldn't get rid of being able to click on "last reply" to take you to the last page of a post.
I do like that the new boards seem to autorefresh themselves.
I am not on FB, so I don't see the big deal with the buttons.
Small issue: I hate that the new nest says "1 hours ago" it's "1 hour." Coding that isn't that hard.
So Tasty, So Yummy
That works in posts. Use the HTML button at the top.
So Tasty, So Yummy
You lost me.
Are you saying that if someone posts a link in a post, and makes it clicky, that you as a Safari user only see a dead link and not a clicky one?
I thought you were referring to the ability to MAKE a link clicky in a post that you are writing, since I constantly see people apologizing for not making clicky links because they are on macs.
Shift+Enter
I have been dying for this to come back! Although I heard that you can't view in bump mode anymore, which would make it equally sucky again.
Sorry for being confusing. I was only talking about being able to make a clickable link in a post.
Ex. I can't make this clickable even if I use the link above.

awesome tip on the shift enter!
The new nest can be viewed in bump mode, that is how I view it. There is a sort by recent post box you can check.
So Tasty, So Yummy
Did you click on the html button?
So Tasty, So Yummy
yay! thanks!
surround the link with either
<a target="_blank" href=yourlink<*/a>
or
[url]yourlink[*/url]
(yadda yadda, remove the *)
I'm curious if either of those would work without going to the html updater.
So Tasty, So Yummy
<a target="_blank" href=http://www.southernliving.com/food/holidays-occasions/thanksgiving-slow-cooker-side-dish-recipes-00417000069739/page5.html<*/a>

Doesn't appear that works and that would be too much trouble to do every time I wanted to share a link.
In Chrome, when I click the HTML button, I get a pop-up box, but there is no HTML code.
you didn't remove the *
mobile version
as to the search function.... hahahahaha. Its never worked!
