Frustrating Brandy Melville Return- what to do next?

(This is so long and more of a vent too- I am sorry!)

A little over a month ago I placed an order from Brandy Melville's  online site.

About a wek and 1/2 later I get the two tops I ordered, and unfortunately don't like either of them and decide to return. However, I never got a return slip with my items or any information on HOW to return the stuff- just a card that said I had 30 days to get my return back to them for a refund.

So I send an email to their "contact us" section asking how I go about sending my return back to them.

I hear nothing and finally its a week and a half til the stuff is due back to them- and I call.  I say I am trying to return and emailed customer service regarding the order and have thus heard nothing. The woman from Brandy Melville tells me that I should have not used the "contact us" section but rather another email address (which is not even listed on their site!!). Then she tells me they need to "mail me a return label" and the man that handles that just stepped out. She takes my phone number and promises he will call me asap.

He never calls. Then, three days later I get an email back from customer service with a copy and pasted message with a link to the return policy (which I somehow could not find on their site for the life of me).

The link tells me to send my stuff back to them in this format:

Brandy Melville Returns

Order #

1340 1/2  Fourth St.

Santa Monica, CA 90401

Great. I do exactly that and run to the post office as my stuff is due back to them by the 5th. I send it guaranteed to arrive by the 2nd from USPS.

Welp- I just got back from vacation and decided to track the package to make sure it it was delivered on time. And low and behold- it says "UNDELIVERABLE AS ADDRESSED" and the package is coming back to me! Says they tried twice to deliver the package.

UGH. I know I addressed it exactly as customer service told me to because I checked it multiple times.

What to do now, considering I am after the return deadline? I seriously just want to throw the tops away and be done with it.  I am dreading having to call customer service again...

  • I would put in a dispute with your credit card company.

I don't think this will help unless you say you never got the items or return them and don't get a refund (a nestie on my board was stuck with an item because she ended up receiving it super late and the CC company said she had to pay).

anyway, I think you just have to call customer service back again and tell them what happened.  It's annoying, but you have evidence that you did what they asked so even if they are making it difficult, they should still take it back.

Depends on the card, AmEx has a return guarantee. If you used your debit/check card, they are usually a bit more rigid.

  • Thanks for all the advice. Welp- I got the package retuned to me tonight and pretty much the entire address had rubbed off- it isn't even legible (and I used a sharpie to write it!).

So I guess this is my fault (I assume the package got wet or something as I have never had this issue before w/ a permanent marker), but ill still try calling and see if I can resend. But I am doubting they will accept it since it's over the 30 day policy. boo!

  • I just had a similar experience:  the package I ordered had a Fedex tracking number but Fedex had no information on it.  I'm waiting to see how they handle themselves.  I don't expect much, especially given what happened to you.

  • Hey kate! I was wondering how you got your return in the end. Did they send you a label? or did you have to send it again the same way you tried the first time? Cause I'm in the same pickle with my returns and I have no idea how to get the package back to them!
