Dumb Calories Question

So I am tracking everything I eat, and I have noticed that when you are getting the calories for cooked veggies they always say "cooked without salt". But salt doesn't really have any calories, so why would salt make a difference?

You would think it would specify "cooked without oil/butter" - I don't get it either.

I'm not sure what you're using to look up calories, but does it just tell you calories, or complete nutritional info?  I've seen food databases that specify the salt thing, but I always assumed it was to generate the sodium content, not the calories.

see Boxer, you're smart. Since I have no blood pressure issues the only reasons I think about sodium are A) YUMMY and Water Retention.
