NCR: One Piece Swim-Suits

I'm eyeing up these two suits from J. Crew, and I'm hesitating, because I don't know if it's screaming that I'm a mom and giving up. I'm 5'2" 130 lbs and a D cup. TMI? Thoughts?

For the record, I'm not trying to give up, but we go to FL in 4 weeks, and my stomach should not see the light of day, and I'm having trouble finding a tankini that supports my chest while fitting snugly around my rib cage.

Re: NCR: One Piece Swim-Suits

  • LOL i'm not a mom (thank god) and still own a ton of jcrew one pieces. i like them for snorkeling and water sports far far more than a bikini. no other reason than that! one pieces have nothing to do with being a mom and giving up (on what?)

  • I have a couple j. crew d-cup swim suits and I think they do the best job with support.  I will warn that I have not bought one in a few years, but if they have not made any changes I would totally go for it.  I love the black one in your post.

  • oh just have to add something. if you're concerned about support up top make sure to get one iwth an adjustable strap. i have a few that are halter style or just string style that tie in the back or in the front and it's important to hae the adjusting capability. i'd probably say (while its cute and i have one like it) the black one is not going to offer the support you need.

the blue and white-unless the strap is adjustable i'd skip it.

    ties at the neck.

  • I think those suits are both really cute.

FWIW, I'm not a mom, I am 5'2" and 125, and have never been able to wear a bikini in my life. I used to be very heavy and lost a lot of weight so I have a lot of loose skin. heck, I look like I've had twins. My options are limited to tankinis and one pieces. I guess what I'm saying is, not wearing a bikini isn't just a mom thing.

  • I LOVE that blue and white one!!! You'll look gorgeous!

  • I don't have any specific advice on swimsuits because I can't relate to the "need boob support" aspect. But I do love JCrew swimsuits.  Also, I haven't had kids, I eat super healthy and exercise a lot, and I'm still more comfortable in a one-piece.
  • We've got a undergarment boutique that specializes in beautiful and functional bras for women who need support.  They also carry swim-suits, which are wonderful.  Does your town have a boutique like that?  You do pay more, but you get a much better fit and better service.
  • One piece does not = mom

I just took two new one pieces on my honeymoon with me.  And both were skirted.  This was one of them:  http://www.everythingbutwater.com/product/product.html?pid=46869&color=423&size=214

  • I think they are both cute, though I'm not a one-piece wearer myself. Hell, who am I kidding....I'm not a swim suit wearer at all! I don't have kids, and I don't think that a one-piece screams "mom" or anything else. It's all about what you are comfortable in Big Smile

If anyone has found this, I'd be excited.  I found a tankini I loved last summer, but it still had very little support.  I'm eying one pieces this year for the same reason.

I first tried a tankini when I was pregnant, and ended up wearing bikinis instead, as they didn't slip off my ribs like the tankini did.

  • The last time I wore a bikini was in high school when I was thin.

I bought one of those tummy hider one-piece suits and I love it. I hadn't worn a bathing suit in years because I hated how it hugged my belly fat (to those who said I was lucky I was carrying all in front/my stomach, yeah...not so much). Now that I'm losing weight I still plan to wear it this summer because I've still got that loose skin in my middle.

I LOVE both the suits you posted. I'm nowhere near a D cup but I know that finding support is an issue when they're that big.

  • I don't have any children, and I have never been comfortable wearing a bikini.  I'm just not comfortable showing that much skin!  I do have a hard time finding nice one piece suits though.  Maybe I'll check J Crew too.
  • I love the second one. The first one is a little "loud" to me.

It's too bad our culture can't be more like Japanese culture where they go to public baths completely naked  :)

I definitely don't think a one-piece screams mom. I find them to be chic! Yoga pants and a stretched out t-shirt with food all over it however does scream mom (which is what I was unfortunately wearing this morning). Luckily, I've changed.
