House Warming Suggestions?

Normally I give like a big laundry basket full of things.. But I've already given my mom toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, etc.

I want to give her something else.

What's your go to gift?

Re: House Warming Suggestions?

  • Wine. Hand towels. More wine.

  • Plants that are pet friendly or frozen baked goods that they can bake up.  Like cookie dough that is formed into balls and frozen or cinnamon rolls that are rolled and cut then frozen.
  • Wine. I usually shy away from plants because I am bad with them, and I don't want to give someone more responsibility when moving into a new house.

I would go with a nice bottle of wine, and maybe her favorite bubble bath, so she can enjoy having her own home, with her own bath. Smile

    Edited for grammar.

  • I typically do a plant and alcohol of some kind (varies depending on the person).

For my mom though, I'd probably do some type of art work.
canvaspeople.com puts pictures on canvas for fairly cheap (they often do deals) - maybe a family photo?

  • We usually do a stock the bar gift. Basically a gift basket full of different liquors. (I know a lot of drinkers Stick out tongue )

I found a groupon for a canvas-wrapped photo (not canvaspeople.com) and gave a photo to my parents for Christmas. I did it out of selfishness because I was hoping they'd taking down a photo of me I didn't like (and they DID replace that one with the canvas one, yay!). A lot of their friends/some family have commented on how nice it is and a few have asked me where I got it and whatnot.
I think it beats the average picture frame.

  • Since decorating is so personal, I often give them a GC to art.com or Homegoods. Depending on who it is and what they have I might get them an appliance if I know they have the need for it. Like a toaster oven if I know only 1 or 2 people will be living there, or a vacuum foodsaver. (This is reserved for family since it is expensive stuff.)
