What the mutherfuck?????

I just called to get the gas and electric for the studio put in my name and they wanted a "security deposit" of almost $1100!  What in the hell?

  • Have you not had service in your name before? Or is it because it is a business?
  • It is in the business (LLC) name, not me personally and I think that is why.  They said they "hold" it for 3 years and we get it back if we pay on time.

Fck that.  I am just going to ask my landlord if we can just keep it in his name and write him that check every month along with the rent.

    That is such bullshiiiiz.

3 years?! That seems a little extreme, imo.

That's what a lot of places do around here. Makes sense.

This is how it is...sucks for those people who can't put a big deposit down, but there are a lot of restrictions on when utility companies can turn off your power if you're behind on your bills...this covers their asses for the losers that don't pay their bills.

Generally, the customer's deposit earns interest though, so when you get it back, you'll get more than the $1100 you initially deposited.  I'm not sure that that's the case everywhere, but it's common.

Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!
