Fine, fine, I'll do it...
Sooo... umm... I've been around for a couple months now.
Ask me anything?
Re: Fine, fine, I'll do it...
What's your favorite color?
What's your favorite thing to cook?
What made you want to post here?
If you could live anywhere, where would you live?
You've been posting for awhile (I see silver) but I don't remember too much about you.
Do you have any siblings? Older, younger?
Do you know how to play an instrument?
What's the best beach you have been to?
What's your favorite type of movie: comedy, drama, action, etc?
When is your birthday?
How old were you when you lost your virginity?
What kind of panties do you wear?
cool, I used to be able to tinker on the clarinet and I was a pianist for years!
What is your favorite subject to study in school?
If you could learn any foreign language in a day, what would it be?
What is your shoe size?
Do you like toothpaste or the gel?
How, when we got married in the same month, do you have so many more TN posts than me? Lol.
Which TN forums (besides BNOTB) do you usually post on?
My Blog
I really benefited using TK to plan my wedding but now that it's over and done with, I don't really care much for wedding talk - and that's why I thoroughly enjoy TN.
I post on BNOTB most but browse ML and MM frequently. MM is nice for questions I may not have right now but may be asking in the future and therefore I'm already finding out the answer!
I know I'm late to this, but I'm bored tonight so if you're around and still willing...
How did you become a nanny?
I think I've seen you mention you're in school before (or maybe it's someone else). If it's you, what are you going for?
If money wasn't a factor, where in the world would you move?
DH and I have seriously considered doing this, maybe for a year or longer. If he didn't love his job and have great perks then we'd probably already be gone! In the meantime, we've been saving up as much of his vacation time as possible and using at once, lol.
And, I completely agree with your last sentence about enjoying life.
Thanks for answering my questions!
You're welcome
And yeah, that's one of the reasons why we volunteered in TX... it was just temporary and it was still in the USA but it was a total culture shock. I loved it. People who hear me talk about traveling the world tell me I won't go anywhere once I have kids but I definitely disagree.
Where do you plan to go with his vacation time?
I agree with you and like the way you think -- we seem similar, lol. I don't understand the mindset that some people have about having kids and not getting to do anything. I understand it changes things and is more difficult, but it's still possible!
We're undecided if we want kids but if we do, I can guarantee we'll still travel because we love it so much. It's refreshing to read the travel board and see that so many people still travel and don't let kids stop them from doing it. I think the same goes for any goal in life and having kids though (going back to school, continuing to do other things you love, having hobbies, etc.).
We're backpacking through Central/Eastern Europe for 4 weeks this spring. We've been wanting to do this for years and figured now is the best time. DH saved up a ton of vacation time and I've had a very hard time finding a job here (I moved across the state for his job), so we figured we'd take advantage of the extra time off now while we can.
Where did you go for your honeymoon?
And what type of volunteering in TX did you do?
Also, what does your H do?
I see you post often but like Stellar said, I feel like I don't *know* you yet. lol
TX was supposed to be a year-long but we left after 4 months because of complications in our program. I was supposed to work at a shelter for homeless pregnant women, but instead was placed at a coffee shop that provided computers for the community (4% of homes in the west side of San Antonio have computers), as well as work-experience for juveniles, however, the coffee shop was under renovation (that the volunteer program was unaware of) and I spent time working at a daycare. It wasn't fulfilling.
We (mainly me, not so much DH) had a problem with one of our roommates/another volunteer.
And DH was a manager at a Jimmy Johns (do they have Jimmy Johns, wherever you are? It's like Subway. or Quiznos. or... a sandwich joint.) but has been unemployed since March 1 and has applied to a bajillion jobs, has had 6 interviews so far, and 2 scheduled for Monday.
Basically we're broke and aren't too worried about it (even though, who wouldn't love a high paying job?). This sounds really hippity-dippity but my heart constantly reminds me how rich we as Americans are just to have a roof over our head. And the fact that I was born/raised in a really wealthy city.
Nice! I went to Cancun a few years ago with some friends and the beaches were gorgeous. It's also crazy how inexpensive flights and accommodations are there and the good deals to be found. It makes it tempting to go back.
That's a bummer that the volunteer program didn't work out like it should have. I completely understand why you left early and I would have done the same.
There's actually a Jimmy Johns just down the street from us, but they closed a few months ago. We have friends who live above the restaurant and their apartment always smells good if they have the windows open, lol. I know it's different when you work there though...I worked at Subway in HS and college and I felt like the scent never escaped me!
Good luck to your H and I hope he finds another job soon. I've been unemployed for way too long, so I can definitely sympathize.
Living above a JJ's? Mmmm! haha, but yeah, working there he always came home smelling not-so-great. I thought that'd only happen if someone worked with fried food but I was totally wrong (so I'm actually thankful for him to find a new field).
