Frozen lasagna and frozen meatloaf questions...

Several cooking questions for you....

LASAGNA

I plan on making lasagna today, and will divy it up b/w 2 pans- 1 for us to eat today, and the other to make for a friend who's having a baby in mid-April.

1. Will the frozen lasagna keep until then?

2. If it does, I need to put down instructions.... will she need to thaw it first? If so, how long?

 MEATLOAF

1. I assume I cook the meatloaves and then eat one for a dinner, and then freeze the other loaf?

2. Should I let it thaw, and then insert it back into the oven to warm it up (if I want to eat it for dinner in a few weeks)?

Re: Frozen lasagna and frozen meatloaf questions...

  • I think the lasagna will keep until April, as long as it's thoroughly cooled before freezing, and wrapped really well in foil and plastic wrap.

For the meatloaf, I think I've always done it to freeze before baking, then thawed and baked.  But I think baking, thawing and rewarming in the oven should be fine too.
