WFD?

We're headed to a wedding reception soon.  I think the meal is Mexican food made by the groom's family.  Also I hear one layer of the cake is Paula Deen's red velvet cake recipe.  Nice!

Re: WFD?

  • DH is making chicken on the grill and I make some corn on the Cobb, baked beans and probably a veggie burger.

  • reubans at my aunt & uncles - yummy and I did not have to cook!
  • Leftover pot roast and veggies

Best part -- caramel brownies for dessert!

  • We had PW's Penne all Betsy with spinach for me, peas for my husband and daughter, and some garlic bread.

  • I made pork medallions in a balsamic glaze, mac and cheese (a CL recipe) and roasted asparagus.  I'm stuffed!
  • We dropped off the babe at MIL/FIL's for a visit so we could run to Lowes and a few other boring errands.  But before we picked up our son we went to a "trendy" hot dog place for a quick bite and beer.  I had the Chicago Dog (mustard, yellow onion, diced tomato, sweet relish, sport peppers, pickle and celery salt) but I opted for the vegan hot dog as opposed to an all beef dog.  It was really good!

They have some craaaazy dogs available though.  I was THISCLOSE to trying the "mobayashi".  It is tempura battered and fried, dressed with spicy mayo, cream cheese, cucumber, and topped with wasabi.  Bizarre.  Maybe next time?  ;)

    That sounds fun!

I made rack of lamb that was really delicious... I altered Ina's recipe and roasted the lamb with some bread crumbs with rosemary, garlic and grainy mustard. I made a red wine reduction, roasted asparagus, and rosemary garlic mashed potatoes. Now I'm making some cookies, starting with Joanne Chang's chocolate chunk cookie recipe and adding some chocolate crumble from the Milk Bar cookbook.

We have also had a Hendricks Sidecar and two glasses of a delicious Burgundy... Thankfully I Mise en place when ever I bake... and that I did that before dinner/drinking. Wink

  • The best steak I've ever had from a butcher located in a gas station, baked potatoes, roasted aparagus, sauted mushrooms, and some french bread.
  • Beer-cheese soup and beer bread.  And beer, lol.

  • Yay DH is making spaghetti!
  • I made a homemade version of Zaxby's Kickin' Chicken Sandwich with baked buffalo chicken tenders and lightened up homemade blue cheese dressing on Texas toast, served with side salad and seasoned crinkle fries. DH said the sandwiches were better than Zaxby's, so I'd say they were a success.
  • Clam Chowder, Steamed Snow Crab legs with melted butter, Garden Salad and crusty peasant bread.
