As if I needed another reason to fly Jet Blue (BR)

Sorry if we have discussed this already- but

Did anyone see the story about the family that was booted from the Jet Blue flight because their toddler was having a temper tantrum? It was online but they had the family on the Today Show this morning.

Apparently the kid was out of control and would not sit still in her seat (she's two) and kept unbuckling so Jet Blue turned the plane around and made them deplane. Family obviously is all up in arms about it and causing a stink.

What I found telling was that the kids were royal BRATS during the interview with Matt Lauer, the parents had NO control over the kids and did not tell them once to sit down and be quiet. Matt Lauer actually said at the end "Control your kids"- lol!

(The mother is a pediatrician and the father is a doctor Tongue Tied )

I will continue to be a loyal customer of Jet Blue. ;)

Re: As if I needed another reason to fly Jet Blue (BR)

  • I don't think we'll be flying anywhere with young ones (I'd rather drive or take a train) BUT if we do, you can count on me to drug my children so they sleep the entire time and not bug a soul.

Go Jet Blue! (And Matt Lauer, ahah!)

  • I heard about this and don't think it was discussed here.

I would be so so embarrased if I were the parents.

    Good for Jet Blue!

  • I knew I liked Matt Lauer, and JetBlue for that matter!
  • Holy shiit, I missed this story.  Good for Jet Blue and Matt!

  • The mother's argument was "Well, I don't understand how she posed a risk to anyone on the plane"

I can just imagine what the poor flight attendants would have to deal with in terms of all the other passengers wanted to be moved/complaining, etc.

Your kid is a passenger just like everyone else and must comply with FAA regulations, you idiot.

  • Awesome story, I will for sure be more inclined to purchase Jet Blue for this. Yes

  • I just went to the Today Show website so i can see the story.

On the homepage, there's a poll

"Should the Family have been removed from the plane?"

At this point it's 71% yes, 29% no

LOL! Well, MH just said AFTER the interview (watching how the kids behaved) "I bet that 71&% is more like 98% now

  • LOL!  I seriously sat there laughing my ass off when the kid couldn't even sit still for a five minute segment on the Today show.  Good luck getting any sympathy!
Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!

  • I did not hear about this but certainly will fly Jet Blue in the future if they go where I am flying!

  • Now I have to find the story just to see how the parents reacted when he told them to control the kids.

I say good for Jet Blue. I don't fly very often, but I do remember one flight with a screaming baby behind us the entire way. As annoying as that is, I can forgive that more than an unruly toddler.

  • I saw that on The Today Show!

I thought the same thing.  The dad had a death grip on the 2 year old and just kept trying to smile.  I rolled my eyes really hard when the mom's defense seemed to be "Well, she IS two..."

I agree with this. I fly a few times a year, and I've been stuck with babies who start crying during the flight. It sucks, but that's what they do. They don't know better, but a toddler? And I HATE when people give the "oh well it's her 'terrible twos'" excuse. I know plenty of people with two year olds that aren't little sh*ts.

I totally agree. Infants cannot control themselves, fiiiine. A 2 year old knows better. And if not, when you're on an airplane, bribe the shiit outta your kid or give them a portable DVD player or something.

I totally watched the Today Show interview after reading this thread because I was eager to see what's up. It was not good for the family's defense, haha
