Re: red beans & rice makers......?
Here's a list of the ingredients I use:
Ingredients:
1 Pound dry red kidney beans, rinsed and sorted
6 Cups water
5 Regular bouillon cubes (or 1 Tbsp. + 2 tsp. chicken base)
1/4 Pound smoked sausage*, quarted and cut into thin slices
1 Onion, chopped
4-5 Cloves garlic, minced
1 Tsp Cajun or Creole seasoning (omit this if using Andouille sausage)
3/4 Tsp cumin
3/4 Tsp coriander
3/4 Tsp oregano
1/2 Tsp smoked paprika (omit if using Andouille sausage)
A splash (or two) of hot sauce (optional)
*(Andouille sausage if you can find it), quartered and cut into thin slices. You can also use a large, meaty ham bone.
I know you said you can't open clicky links at work but here is the link to my post if you need it for future reference

I use Cajun seasonings (Slap Ya Mama is my favorite), a jalepeno pepper, salt and pepper, 2 bay leaves, Andouille sausage, a ham hock. If you can C&P the link, here is my recipe:

My grandmother taught my mother who taught me and all she ever used was onions, salt and pepper and pickled pork. My mother changes it up a bit and uses a Honeybaked ham bone sometimes, but we really keep it simple.
When I make red beans and rice here, sometimes I use pickled pork, but sometimes I add vegetable stock powder to keep it vegetarian for my husband.
