Ugh. How do people not get it?
My co-worker lost his boxer not long ago. Decided to buy a GSD. I heard him talking about it but decided not to be the office jerk and tell him why what he was considering was a terrible idea.
He bought a SIX-week-old GSD. The farmer who sold it to him had already sold the other pups in the litter. So many red flags there. Poor baby pup separated from everything so young. My co-worker has two young daughters, he works full time, he's getting his Master's, and his wife works full time. I don't see this going very well, for anyone involved.

Probs not. Ohio isn't exactly known for its animal welfare concerns.
My Lunch Blog
Because a mouthy GSD with no bite inhibition is exactly the kind of dog people love to deal with. Ugh.
I grew up around GSD's. I love them. This does not sound like a house that has the time for all the training a 6 week old pup will need. I hope I'm wrong.

I told here that there was no way I would be able to take in a lab puppy and keep him/her happy. Then I asked her why she asked...she said she has a neighbor who "wants to get rid of them"...Awesome.
I mumbled "that's horrible", and decided to not pick a fight.
Some people suck.
Six weeks old!!!! Poor little guy :-(
I really really hope for the sake of the pup, that it works out for them. He'll need to employ the services of a dog walker/carer for during the day when they're at work and enlist pup in a puppy club/training class once they've had all the jags etc. a GSD is not a breed I would recommended for a full time working family, I hope they give the dog enough exercise and training. Do they have a garden do you know?
Really, not everyone knows about taking babies away from mamas too soon. I didn't know, and we have had puppies as early as 6 weeks (granted, 2 were from the humane society and 1 was from a friend, which I shouldn't have done, but I didn't know any better!)
As for the other issues- young kids, working full time, in school. What he is THINKING?!
I'm a GSD rescuer and this breaks my heart... We currently have one 14 week old foster who was dropped in a box along with his five siblings on a counter at a shelter @ 5 weeks old. The shelter let someone who's never fostered before, who has no dog experience take them who works full time/goes to school/very social... needless to say, they returned them all at 12 weeks becaues they're completely out-of-control and are beating the tar out of each other.
This situation has "what the hell?!" written all over it.
