Re: Sterilizing diva cup question

  • I used to boil after every cycle.  But then I got lazy.  Now I just use soap, and sometimes peroxide.

This. It is probably why I had to battle a yeast beast, though, so when I go back to the cup after birthing my LO, it's back to boiling every cycle for me.

  • I don't use soap on it all.  I clean it with water during my cycle and boil it between cycles.  When i used soap i got yeast infections and now i don't, so i'm happy with the current arrangement.

I boil every time and use soap during.

  • At the end of my cycle I put it into a glass container in a solution of about 50% hydrogen peroxide and 50% water.

  • I decided that boiling it just to put it in a permeable dusty bag in my closet was not worth the hassle.

I water rinse during and use non-anti bac soap and a 'not for the mouth' toothbrush at the end.

  • I either boil or use Pure Romance's "come clean" cleaner for, eh, intimate items. It does a fantastic job of killing all the yeast and bacteria without harming the material of the cup at all and it keeps the material free of stains and doesn't leave any residue. One quick spray inside and out, rinse and pop it back in the bag so its ready for next month.
