Anyone have portable GPS?

My husband has been saying he wants a portable GPS because he's worried about driving here. It's his birthday on the 9th so I'm thinking of getting him one for his bday.?

He won't need a top of the line model..just a basic one will do.?Any recommendations on brands, etc?

Re: Anyone have portable GPS?

  • We have a Garmin Nuvi and love it.  DH took it around when we were walking in Washington, D.C. and it really helped out.  I'm not sure of the price but he bought it last year on the day after Thanksgiving.
  • We paid 200 for a Garmin and love it
  • We have a Tom Tom that we got off ebay that we LOVE!

Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • We have a Magellan and so does my sister....we have been pleased with it thus far!
  • we have tom tom too. it's really easy to use (i've never opened the users guide). i really like it.
  • thanks guys. i'll look in to those!

  • We have a Garmin Nuvi also and luv it! I also have a  really good one on my cell phone so that's also an option...let me know if you find a good deal on one. I want to get one for my mom for Christmas.
  • I have a Magellan and my husband has a Garmin. I like my Magellan better because it gives directions a little better than the Garmin and gives you more time to manuver. The Garmin tells you and you need to do something quicker...if that makes sense . The only negative to the Gelly...which is what I call her, is that you will have to buy your upgrades from time to time. I'm not sure about the Garmin...but I don't think you have to pay for upgrades...check that out to be sure. I would literally be LOST without mine. I have no sense of direction at all and it's saved my butt numerous times. I got one for my son who lives in Atlanta and has no better sense of direction than I do and it's been very helpful for him. Bob got the Nuvi and he's quite pleased with it. Got it at Sam's Club. I got mine from QVC. I think if you stick to the Garmin, Tom Tom or Magellan you have the three top GPS systems available. Good luck.
