Well, last night DH's buddy & his dog came over, it was suuuper nice out all wknd so we were outside grilling when they came over (they have been over maybe once before since surgery, but we've stayed inside the whole time, the dogs weren't allowed outside together). Typically the dogs just go bezerk in yard chasing eachother. Our friends dog is little so he just runs circles around Coop, cutting sharp corners & whatnot while Cooper tries to chase him. Even before this last surgery I would cringe watching them out there playing.
Well, they were completely tearing around the yard yesterday afternoon, (Cooper clearly was totally happy to have his buddy back over) but I was literally sitting there cringing & wincing as Coop was running around like a crazy person w/his too-long legs flailing, running & turning sharp corners, trying to stay within our yard (not that he has a choice b/c its fenced in, but if you have a tall dog you know what Im talking about!). I kept saying "take it easy" "settle down" "easy Cooper!", even though I know it was totally pointless b/c he knows none of those "commands" Lol
Well, he survived! No yelping, no limping, nothing ::HUGE knock on wood:: I bet my knuckles were white the whole time we were outside. Im SO glad he did ok, I was/am SO worried about him returning to "real" life. BIG Phew!
Re: Cooper had his first "real" post-op playdate!
Sounds like he's doing great!!! That's awesome! Before you know it he's going to want to go on some 5k runs with you!!
Ziva did FABULOUSLY at doggie daycare/boarding this past weekend (they made her take a 30 min break in the kennel every hour, play for an hour, rest for 30 min. I love them.)
Haha, I sure hope so! Its SO weird running w/o him!!!
Oh YAYAYA Ziva! Thats SO awesome! &, Im SO glad they are making her take breaks! Wow, they really do a good job taking care of their needs! Yipee! It feels like only yesterday we were crying on eachothers virtual shoulders about our upcoming surgeries! Can you believe its gone by so fast! PHEW! Hahaha
I'm glad he had such a great time!
And I wince when watching my dogs rough house and neither of them have had a knee injury! I can't imagine how stressful it would be to watch one that's had so many problems.
