Weird phone call

I just answered a call from my primary care doctor.  His secretary said I hadn't been in his office since 2010 Indifferent  I guess I should book a physical, eh?  I go to my gyno once a year, but I always overlook my primary.

Re: Weird phone call

  • That's why I love my primary.  She used to be an OBGYN and is now a GP, so it's one-stop shopping.  Wink

  • I just do my physical at the gyno. 2 birds with 1 stone. Unless the primary does something different? I can't remember the last time I had a physical with a primary.

I need to find a new primary though. I feel like mine now just brushes off my concerns.

Lucky!  I have a phobia of going to my primary because the waiting room is always jam packed with hacking coughing sickies.  I always feel like I am going to get sick as soon as I leave.

Yeah, I don't know what the difference would be either.  I need to look into it.

  • I didn't know it was recommended to do a physical each year, it's been quite a while since I did one and that was for a job!    But the H has to do one every year because of coaching, so he never misses one.

If you do go, hopefully it will be a slow day for sick folks.

  • I am honestly going to put it off for a while.  I have so much going on right now that I can't carve out an hour for someone to tell me I am perfectly healthy.
  • I remember it was required 6 - 12th grade, even if you weren't playing a sport. That way, the school had an up-to-date medical record on file in case something happened. I thought it was smart and think employers should do the same (even though I'm sure this topic could open up a big ol' can of worms).

I had my last physical in September (or October?) when I had to see the Dr. for BCP prescription.

  • Thanks for reminding me to make an appt with my OB/GYN!

I make sure to get a yearly physical because I use my work's health insurance-- you have to pay more if you smoke or are overweight.

    I love that rule!

    Personally, I think that's a fantastic idea.

  • I need to get a new PCP. My last few moved or retired after I saw them just a few times. I think it's been.. a lot of years since I've kept the same one.

I like the way my midwives run their practice. I just see the four of them based on who is available when I want my appointment. It works so much better than relying on one doctor.

My PCP and GYN are both part of a group practice, so I can see whomever also.  It is pretty convenient for the one time a year that I go.
