Re: Bad name of the day:
I was having this discussion with H. My SIL named her daughter EmmaLee Dawn. Uh...Alright. SHe's going to have issues spelling her last name (hella German) and now you went and hick-a-fied her name?
I hate people who try to unique-ify their kid's names.
It was really common for kids around where I grew up (i.e. Hicktown, USA) to be named a combo of mom and dad's name. One I remember was my sister's friend Raelynne. Her dad was Lynn and her mom was DonnaRae...who was the daughter of Donna and Ray.
LOL.
And I also greatly dislike those people.
I hate the fact that when you say my name you say it with a country twang just because of the nature of my first and middle names. Then I have a Mexican last name
LOL
Ummmmm... check this post:

Oh Mylanta.
I love that they are ripping her apart. I think reading the baby names chapter of Freakanomics should be required for breeding.
One of the posters suggested that! haha
This makes me appreciate being named Sara.
/Dead
and I thought Xavier Tex was bad!
...Hubby still won't let that one go.
bahhaa, those names are crazy.
I am pretty sure that if there is ever a day that I do spawn, the bump/nest will be the last place I go to seek advice on baby names. It's frigging hard enough to decide on something like that, but even harder to have someone slamming the names you like. It does make for good entertainment for us, though, when the names are abnormal like that.
I do not plan on asking ANYONE for help (aside from DH) when choosing names. There will always be a critic. Always.
But yes, definitely entertaining.
Brilliant!
Personal note: Even though I do like my name, and it's a "real" name although an uncommon spelling, it is really freaking annoying to always have to spell it (usually more than once) and never have anything work related spelled correctly.
My best friend growing up has your name, but spelled with a 'c'. Being someone with a common but misspelled name myself, I always ask if it's a 'c' or 'sh'.
Side note: A friend of mine just had a baby and named her Brynnley. IMO, Brynn = nice/cute. Brynnley = contrived/no-one-is-gonna-call-her-that-anyway.
My dad has a shorter version of a long name as his first name. (Example: Ron, not Ronald) and when he was in elementary school the teachers told my grandparents that naming him that was wrong and it should be the long version.
My mom wanted to name me "Alex" and my dad refused unless it was "Alexandra", the full length version. I already have two last names, I definitely didn't need those extra letters.
I love uncommon names, and even slightly different spellings (ie instead of y) but Jaedynn? Errrr...
