Calves hurt when running?
I started running in November and have been increasing my speed and distance gradually since then. Within the past month or so, my calves have been hurting about 10 minutes into my run. I run on a treadmill and start running as soon as I get on. Should I walk for a few mintues first? Any suggestions?
Re: Calves hurt when running?
I usually do about 1/2 mi - 1 mi warm up at a slower pace before really getting into my run. I find that if I dive right into the faster pace my calves hurt through out the run. I also have noticed that if I'm not very well hydrated my calves hurt.. and sometimes my legs just don't want to cooperate.
My home office. Joeyzlovieg's hubby made it for me. I love it!
i just recovered from a minor calf tear. it took 6 weeks of NO running to heal. it was terrible (the waiting). the odd thing is when i walked or stretched it wouldn't hurt. only when i was running. take a week off to make sure it's not something like this so you don't injure it further. i think i would have been fine had i not tried to run through the inital pain.
good luck
