What is the strangest thing

you've been pulled over for?

I was pulled over last night for forgetting that my high beams were on.  It was 2 am so I assume he thought I was DUI, so he hemmed and hawed when he realized I wasn't and let me go.

Re: What is the strangest thing

  • The H gets pulled over for no front license plate   (it's required here but people still refuse it, like him), and for the tinting on his front windshield being too low  (even though it is at the legal level, this one always gets dismissed).

  • Driving too closely to the yellow lines on the right side. This is when I was driving my shaggin' wagon (van) and he proceeded to search it and make me do the sobriety tests. I was only 15!! (Not that it would have matter Wink)

  • I was pulled over for having a headlight out. It was my daytime running light...and it was broad daylight.

  • Driving the speed limit.  It was snowing and he said that I wasn't "accomidating my speed for the weather conditions".  It was Wisconsin.  It was flurrying.  It was bullsh!t.  He was really pulling me over because it was 2am on a Thursday and I was coming home from an OOT game. I was wearing my cheerleading uniform and he asked me why I was out so late.  I told him why and he asked if I was sure.  I felt like telling him "I was at your mom's".  Douchenozzle.

  • My rear license plate lights being out. It was late on a Saturday night and my DH and I were driving home from a wedding. I'm sure he thought we were DUI peeps.

The cop was a rookie, obviously, and the older cop stayed in the car while the rookie harassed us and pulled us out of the car. He demanded my husband's info (he was NOT driving, I was), but MH had left his wallet 2 hours away at the wedding. MH got suspicious and asked the officer for his badge number and if he could text his brother to let him know where we were. The officer refused both, searched us both and the car for bombs (??), and yelled at us. It was a horrible experience and we both felt so violated. I reported the incident but of course nothing ever came of it.

BTW... if you're close enough to see that my rear license plate light is out, wouldn't your headlights illuminate it enough to see it clearly, anyway? Food for thought.

  • When I first got my truck, I apparently had hit my cargo light getting in, and didn't realize it. I was pulled over and then had to spend 10 minutes explaining that I didn't know where it was or how to turn it off. (Not one of my finer moments.) Stupid rear, white facing lights.

I have also been pulled over for the front license plate in my husband's car, and tint, which is actually 1 degree of legal, also my husband's car. Two separate times...and he wonders why I would rather bike then drive his car...

This happened to my Dad! Only it was in Michigan. I'm pretty sure he fought it and won.

I got a ticket for not wearing my seat belt properly. I got pulled over and the cop thought I didn't have it on, I said that I'd put my arm over the top of the belt because it was hurting my neck and then he said "well, now I'll have to give you a ticket".  Indifferent  I was so mad that day.

  • Oh, I was also "pulled over" in high school while the car was parked. My boyfriend and I were stopped safely on the side of the road because he'd gotten a cell phone call and didn't want to be driving while he talked. A cop pulled up behind us and really gave us the third degree. I didn't even have my learner's permit yet so all the ID I had was my high school badge and he really didn't like that.

My dad got pulled over for this in Michigan too.  He didn't get a ticket just a friendly reminder to drive safely in hazardous conditions.  Apparently this cop sits on a mostly desserted dirt backroad and pulls people over for going the speed limit when the weather is bad (seriously, I know several people this has happened to in the same spot.)

  • I've only ever been pulled over once, and that was because someone stole the little registration sticker off of my license plate.  I didn't even realize it was gone.  The cop didn't ticket me or anything.
  • I got pulled over in college for daring to drive over a bridge where other college kids were throwing off beer bottles. There were 4 of us in the car. We had to follow the officer to the station, and he questioned me about Benadryl that was still in the unopened bubble pack. The whole thing was quite weird, looking back on it.

Same here. I got pulled over for being parked while I answered a phone call.

I also got pulled over for doing 56 in a 55 because I was in a red sports car. The cop was visibly disappointed to have stopped an old lasy with A kid and dog in the car instead of.. A red car driving drug dealer.

  • HD, if you ever do get issued a ticket, you can always call us.

I have been pulled over twice for speeding.  The funny thing is that I never speed and people make fun of me for driving so slowly.  I was in a rental SUV and didn't realize it.  I got out of both.

  • Only been pulled over once, and it was cause I made an "incorrect left turn". I still have my TX license (though I need to get registed in Utah!), so I handed that over, I threw out a total BS southern drawl, batted my eyelashes, and he let me go with a warning.

I'm surprised I haven't been stopped for speeding. I take speed limits as suggestions, lol.

  • I got pulled over because the tail end of my car was riding low.

I had lie 50 gallons of water in my back seat from doing a water change. I was driving home at night from Killeen, TX and the cop was like.."Is that water back there?"
To which I excitedly replied, "Yeah! I own an aquarium maintenance business! ::whips out fresh off the printer business cards::"

"And you're excited about that? ::raises eyebrow::"

    "...yeah"

He checked the license then  let me go

  • I got pulled over for switching lanes without a turn signal a few years ago.  It was on a side one-way street in the middle of the night and no one was around.  I was annoyed, but he let me go without a ticket.

I also got a speeding ticket a few years ago, but I was speeding pretty bad through a residential area so I deserved it.

Now I have an FOP license plate and don't get pulled over, but I'm pretty cautious these days anyway.  I hate driving and I'm always on high alert of the dumbasses around me...I'm convinced I'm going to die in a car accident (yes, paranoid!).

  • My liscense plate falling off and driving in the rain without my lights on during the same traffic stop.

My brother was getting off the school bus and took a picture lol
