From that show How I Met Your Mother, there was mention of the Olive Theory with falling in love. If you love olives, you try to find someone who hates them, and vice versa. Like the ying to the yang, or whatever. Even though the theory was debunked on the episode for jokes, it does bring up a good point.
I hate olives and pickles, and the H loves them. He gets all the pickles off my burgers and olives from my salads, which works to his advantage. My perk is that he doesn't care for chocolate/mint combo things or fortune cookies so I always get those when we get the Andes mints or cookies from restaurants.
Anything you love that your H hates, etc?
Re: The Olive Theory
He likes spicy food and I don't
He likes pork and I can't eat it
I love chocolate but he doesn't
There are a lot of things that one likes and the other doesn't but there are enough things that we have in common that we are perfect together.
My blog: The Lizard Chronicles
Check out What's on Liz's Head
Based on that theory, we're perfect for each other (no surprise there!)
I love olives, he hates them.
I hate olives and croutons, he loves them.
He hates pickles, so I get those (especially the spicy ones from Famous Daves).
He is also allergic to chocolate, so any time he gets some (for whatever reason his dad keeps giving him chocolate...) I get it.
He hates mac&cheese and grilled cheese. I love them.
I hate sour candy. He loves them.
I dislike most cheese. He LOVE cheese.
I dislike most seafood (except salmon... but I don't really count that) and he is giddy like Christmas whenever we go over my parents when they're cooking sea food. He tells them he gets a bigger portion because he's eating my share.
He's sensitive, I'm not.
He's more reserved, I'm a wild-child.
OHHHH... He HATES watermelon, and I could seriously eat it everyday.
He hates any olive except kalamoto, I love them all. I hate any pickle except dill, he loves them all (he even makes his own).
I don't like the chocolate/peanut butter combo, and it's his fav. He doesn't like mint/chocolate unless it's a girl scout cookie, and it's one of my favs. We CANNOT pick out an ice cream we both like to save our lives, but we keep our hands off the others candy.
As far as olives/pickles go, we both enjoy them - but pretty much everything else under the sun we are opposites.
PS - I read ying "Whying" until i saw yang.. then went back and re-read correctly
WHAAAAAT? Does.not.compute. I love watermelon so much. I bet this is awesome though because you can buy a whole watermelon and have it to yourself.
MH is like a human trashcan. He has preferences, but he'll eat almost anything if it's in front of him. It's kind of nice though because even if I cook something really crappy (which happens often) he'll still eat it and the food doesn't go to waste, LOL.
ETA: If there's ever anything I don't want then he'll always take it. The only thing in particular I can think of right now is tomatoes because I don't like them.
Oh, I forgot about that one, too! Same for us, the H doesn't like watermelon, canteloupe, or any melons... edible type, that is. I love all of those and could also eat them all the time. I can eat a whole canteloupe by myself before it goes bad but I can't manage a watermelon.
Mine too. And the metabolism to keep up.
Yes! Any Melon-type.
KDuv - I call H "Mikey" because he can eat anything. I feel like such a picky eater around him.
That's my husband!
I hate olives, he eats them like candy (he got excited when he had his first martini)
I'm lactose intolerant, he isn't so he looves cheeses.
I LOVE sweet food, he doesn't.
I like olives and croutons and MH doesn't.
He likes green peppers and I don't.
He doesn't like tomatoes, I do.
And he likes spicy food, but I my mouth cannot handle super spicy stuff. When we were in TX, we'd have a lot of people make us mexican food but I felt bad because even though I'd eat it, I wouldn't enjoy it because all I could taste was spice.
Oh, and we're basically both like trashcans. Not too picky.
He likes olives, I don't.
He likes mint chocolate, I don't.
I like chocolate. Period. He'd rather eat something else.
I like lots of bread/toast, he only likes it a little.
I like cucumbers, he says they taste like watermelon rine.
I like pork, he only eats bacon.
It sounds like he's the picky one, but really I am.
Lol my ex actually believed the olive theory. We didn't work out
My H loves meat and I can barely tolerate chicken.
H loves ranch dressing and it makes me nauseaus.
We are opposites on nearly all foods, which makes cooking a challenge.
J won't eat anything acidic - olives, tomatoes, pickles, vinegar, mustard. Won't eat mayo, ranch or most veggies. Won't eat peanut butter with chocolate. Won't eat spicy foods or onions or seafood. No coffee or wine. I'll eat any of those!
I have preferences but will eat almost anything. The one thing J likes that I don't care for is brats.
