My gym conveniently (sarcasm font) stopped offering prenatal classes now that I can finally use them. I have been doing pilates for about 2 years now, and that's what I want to continue working on to maintain my core strength through this pregnancy. I tried a regular pilates class last night and told the instructor my concern at the beginning of class (can't lie on my stomach anymore). She gave me modifications for everything and some different exercises to do when the rest of the class worked on their stomachs. This is fine for now, but I will become more limited in what I can do the further I progress (I'm 16 weeks now). Soon, I worry it may not be worth my time to go to a class where I might spend a good chunk doing nothing. And I don't expect an instructor to essentially give me a semi-private class along with instructing the rest of the class on regular exercises. I don't want to impede on the general flow of the class. Tell me if I'm wrong here.
Taking classes elsewhere really isn't in the budget. I am thinking a prenatal pilates DVD or two may be the ticket. Can you recommend some that are challenging for someone who's not a beginner? A lot of the reviews I am finding online say the videos were too easy, too slow, etc. I plan to continue run/walking for as long as I can as well, and then switch to walking and the elliptical. Thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!!
