Mitt: Planned Parenthood? We're gonna get rid of that.

Yeah, it's jezebel, but just watch the video of his interview with a Missouri TV station.

That's a quote.

Guys, that's one of his suggestions to get rid of debt.  Does he know what the president is?

If I'm president the movies will be free for everyone!  Ticket prices are out of control!

  • I assume he means ending the government subsidy, 'cause ya know, that's such a BIG portion of the deficit.

I'm sure that's exactly how he intended for his comment to be interpreted. Surely no one would believe the President could single handedly shut down PP! ho ho ho, NO! He wasn't trying to imply that at all.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if a (lord help us) new potential president tried to start a crusade to accomplish just that.

PP gets ~$363MM in gov't funds (a good portion of that from Medicaid which includes a lot of state not federal money)

The federal budget is ~$3.6 trillion.

    Woohooo <0.01% reduction!! JFC

Not just that, but for every state or federal dollar spent on Family Planning, there's something north of $3 in savings.

It's not just saving on hospital bills and prenatal care. When women get to choose when to have children, their financial and social social situations tend to be more stable and that leads to better outcomes.

ETA: So someone please explain how defunding PP will balance the budget?
